Mr Racing Recap

THE MR RACING . AU

500K 3YR QTIS JEWEL DAY

The King of The Promos sponsored the 3yr old QTIS Jewel and we were oh so close to pulling it off with Kesalul finishing 2nd only beaten 0.2 lengths.

It was a fantastic day out with the owners of both John Rambo and Kesalul catching up and enjoying the day at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

The track, we must say, was not ready, and that was shown in the amount of sand kicked back and how biassed the track was to leaders. John Rambo (Race 5) was the run of the meeting and is one of Mr Racing’s horses to follow. He was absolulety enormous, charging to the line and running very quick sectionals home. His action was that of a very good horse. He still managed to bank his OWNER OF THE DAY winners, Graeme and Nick $610 in cash but we must say if the track played fair they would of been taking home $3,600!!

Kesalul was our chance to take out one of the features on the day “The Mr Racing . Au” QTIS 3yr old Jewel and after begining well, he got a lovely run outside the lead. At the 150m mark we thought we were going to be able to peg back the leader and eventual winner in Party For Two but just couldn’t get there. Congratulations to all our connections who took home $90,000 for 2nd place, that now takes his overall earnings to over $196,000. Great effort for the $20,000 son of Supido who now takes his record to (7:3-2-1)

I am sure both Jacob and Mac our OWNER OF THE DAY winenrs were up and out of their chairs at the 150m mark cheering! Congrats to you both for walking away with $3,825 in CASH in this promotion. For Jacob our SILVER Member that is over 38 years of his membership fee and Mac more than 3 years of his annual GOLD Membership.

Let’s take a look at some of the moments caught on such a great day out. 👇

Race Reviews

Tow The Line

We thought Tow The Line was a small play in an even race and from barrier one, we were hoping she could jump and hold a spot. She jumped well and held her spot midfield but was one paced in the straight after tracking the eventual winner. We are sus on the form moving forward with majority of them all crossing the line together.

Scheelite & Scully

All the pace in the race scratched race morning which was always going to make it difficult for our selections to win. An old horse of Mr Racing's in Vivy Air with even luck she would have be winning here, held up and attacked the line.

Magic Time

She was well supported in the betting but couldn't fire like the money said she could.

Espiona

Mr Racing's best bet on the day at Randwick and she was tardy away which didn't help her chances. She got onto the eventual winners back, turning but couldn't go with her wanting to lay in. Beaten 1.35 lengths. The winner Lady Laguna is flying this prep having 6 starts this prep and winning 4 of them with the other two finishing 2nd.

Heleva Deel

Disappointing result here, track played against it but the second horse did charge home from behind us.

Superalloy

Almost got the cash with our value runner in Superalloy but was another who was beaten by the bias on the day. Got a lovely run in behind them and had to cross heels in the straight. Was running on strong but just couldn't pick up the leader going down 1.3 lengths.

John Rambo

What an incredible performance by Mr Racing’s very own, John Rambo there on Saturday. It was no doubt the run of the day! The track played very leaderish and he had to make up more than 9 lengths on the corner to catch the tear away leader. Once in the clear at the top of the straight, he wanted to savage the line running very quick sectionals and showing an explosive turn of foot. His last two starts have been enormous and really showing how good a horse he is. Will head to the paddock now for a well earned rest and we can not wait to have him back!

Celesital Legend

What a run, to sit 3 wide throughout facing the breeze, get pushed wider on the turn by Militarize and keep fighting all the way to the line shows what a top quality colt he is. He will head to the Group 1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick on the 6th of April now and get in with a light weight of 49kg. The question will be asked: does trainer Les Bridge go with a different jock who can make the weight or keep K. McEvoy on and ride at 50.5?

We started very strong with 3 of our first 4 bets all winning and banking 97 units in profit. Unfortunately, we couldn’t maintain the lead with the run of seconds and thirds killing us. Superalloy or Kesalul (2nds) were two big results for us with both at double figure odds narrowly being defeated.

Mr Racing Stable News

Slippin’ Jimmy Report:

Looking forward to Jimmy jumping out next Tuesday and excited we were able to secure his half brother at the sales on Monday. I am sure when you listen to Dave’s audio he is too..

Whiskey Tower Report:

Just had a very easy look around today. Ryan mentioned she didn’t really enjoy the heavy track but with all going well we ill head to a jumpout over 1000m in two weeks time.

Watch The Trial Here

John Rambo Report:

An incredible run there on Saturday and should of won if he faced a fair track. His closing splits were phenomenal and we loved his action when wanting to really charge to the line. His last two starts have been some of his best and will now be heading for a spell and bring him back at the end of the Winter Carnival.

Use Your Illusion Report:

Had his first offical trial back today at Doomben and we must say he was plain. Looks like he needs more ground and has not shown the interest Tony had expected today after listening to his audio report post trial.

Smerdon Racing

Kesalul Report:

What a thrill there on Saturday he gave us all. Finishing 2nd in the race Mr Racing sponsored. He has pulled up well from the run and will be heading to the paddock now for a well deserved rest.

Brave Mead Report:

Brave Mead had a jumpout on Monday and went well as usual for him being a nice tick over one. We will be heading to the Darby Munro on Golden Slipper Day Saturday week.

Hear Mark Zahra’s comments after his jumpout below.

Jungle Cat x Khasan Report:

He is back in work the big boy and we are excited! Let’s hope we can get to the races this preparation with him and most importantly name him.

You Think You Know Report:

New edtion to the Mr Racing team is the son of So You Think, You Think You Know. He had his first trial yesterday at Musswellbrook and began and travelled well before blowing out late. Looking forward to see how he comes through the trial.

Jungle Cat x Khasahn

Mr Racing had this colt on our radar at the sales due to his half-brother (King Klaus) whom we tried to buy after his first race start. He is a fast, tough 1000m horse who has built a very handy record (29s :14 - 6 -1) and earned over $300,000 in prize money.

We loved his length, good muscle with clean knees and tracks well, he has a great head and a lovely mover.

Master Rich

Mr Racing along with trainer Jared Wehlow, purchased Master Rich at the recent Inglis Digital Online Sale for $8,000. He looks suited to North Queensland racing, especially the big Rockampton track and his run-on debut at Beaudesert was good when unsuited.
