Quiet Week

It was a very quiet week for both Silver and Gold members, with ordinary meetings not giving us much value.

It is very important with weeks like this that you stay consistent and disciplined with your formula, don’t get sucked into trying to force things and find a bet that is not there. We have learnt over many years of being in the game, let the winners find you.

In saying all that our Gold Membership did have winning week of +100 units and a HUGE congratulations to our Pro Punter Of The Week winner, Bruce Myers who collected $1,000 cash and paid his annual Gold Membership off on the SPOT!

Onto the week ahead, and we have some EXCITING NEWS that one lucky Silver member will have the chance to be there on GOLDEN SLIPPER DAY! That’s right, one Silver member will win the OWNER OF THE DAY PROMOTION and have the opportunity to go to the races and be the owner of the day for Brave Mead, who contests the Darby Munro Stakes at Rosehill. If he can win the race, then this member will take home over $3,000 in Prize Money!

We also have our Punter Of The Week promotion, where our Silver Members will have a chance to win $1,000 in free plays on our tips this week.

Keep reading to find out all the latest from THE KING OF THE PROMOS.

Mr Racing Recap

Meet The Gold Father & Son Duo, Andrew and Mac

The King of The Promos caught up with two of our Gold Members, Andrew and Mac Read during the week and what a great time it was. Mac was a recent winner of the OWNER OF THE DAY PROMOTION where he took home $3,825 in cash when Kesalul ran 2nd in the 3yr-old QTIS Jewel race on the Gold Coast. It wasn’t his first time winning a promotion and by the looks of that smile he will be hunting for more.

Golden Slipper Preview

What an edition of the 2024 Golden Slipper.

The pace looks very fast. The favourite in No.1 Storm Boy is no doubt the horse to beat but he is short at 2.2 and would need 3.2 to bet. I don’t think he’ll lead but will get a lovely run from barrier (2) and be strong at the finish.

No.7 Switzerland has done nothing wrong but I thought it had every chance last start. Definite chance.

No.6 Straight Charge was taken on in front last start and battled on well behind No.7 Switzerland. Looks too much pressure here.

No8. Bodyguard looks suited by the fast pace, rough chance.

No14. Lady of Camelot went super in a fast run Blue Diamond on the pace. She has trialled well since and heard they are going to take a sit and she should get a lovely run. Probably will look winner at the 200.

No.12 Prost ran well on debut in the strong Breeders Plate. Won well enough first up but loved the way it chased No.1 Storm Boy over the last 200m last start. Love to see it win for jock. A Hyeronimus who has been replaced on Storm Boy.

We have No.12 Prost marked at 17.0 and worth a small play each way.

Suggested Play:

No.12 Prost – small play each way

Darby Munro Stakes Preview

Mr Racing is excited to have a runner and a good chance on Golden Slipper Day with the consistent No.2 Brave Mead.

He is a good chance but we don’t think it can give 2.5kgs to the promising Robrick who we have been following since running second on debut behind Mollynickers. First up this preparation he won well against the sectionals and second up he was ridden conservatively out of the gates but found the line well behind the lovely filly Estriella. He will get a lovely run from barrier (1) and be hard to hold out. Our concerns are, first time this way of going and he might be looking for 1400m.

No.6 Schwarz is a lovely Zoustar colt who John O’Shea thinks it could be a potential Everest horse. Trialled ok for this first up, J Mac rides but is a bit dodgy at the barriers which is a huge concern. He will need to jump to beat these.

No.9 General Salute raced well last preparation without winning. If the Waterhouse/ Bott trio over do it in front we think he’ll be storming home and is a value chance.

Our market is:

Robrick 3.5 – Schwarz 5.5 – Brave Mead 5.5 – General Salute 11.0

Suggested Play:

No.8 Robrick with bet returns or each way.

Race Reviews

Midweek Multi

Very disappointing. Both horses performed well below their best in our opinion. Cigar Flick has pulled up with a slow recovery in the stewards report and can forgive the run. In regards to Jonny Da Wolf, Orman came back and stated he felt awkward in his action but no vet abnormalities were found in the vetting post race.

Touch Of Gracie

Gee, we thought in the run Touch Of Gracie was going to be the one after securing the good early odds. Looked to get the lovely run throughout behind the speed but unfortunately the winner, Majestic Boom, got an absolute 11/10 ride from A. Thompson to end up in the box seat from gate 9 and get every possible chance.

One To Follow

Press Link

Very impressive win by the lightly raced son of Press Statement. He was only having his third race start here and after begining fairly, was dragged back to sit 3 wide throughout. Really loved the way he pinned his ears back and extended through his gears at the 100m mark running right through the line. Looks suited stepping out to 1400m

The Gold Membership Recap

It was a very quiet week for our Gold Members, only betting into a total of 5 races which was below our avg but when the value is not there it is important not to sway from your formula to find bets.

We did, however, get off the mark with a 195+ unit winning race when Gin A Tonic saluted for members after being very well backed in early betting.

Stiff not to get a result in our main betting race on Saturday when Deferential, Touch Of Gracie and Lumens Lenny finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Overall, a winning week with a total of +100 units and our PRO PUNTER OF THE WEEK, Bruce Meyers taking home $1,000 cash!

Mr Racing Stable News

Slippin’ Jimmy Report:

The track was too wet for Jimmy to jumpout this week so we will be going around on the 2nd April in an official trial.

Whiskey Tower Report:

Had her second trial this week and she improved a hell of a lot into this trial. Still working it all out and excited to get her off to the races now.

Watch The Trial Here

John Rambo Report:

An incredible run there on Saturday and should of won if he faced a fair track. His closing splits were phenomenal and we loved his action when wanting to really charge to the line. His last two starts have been some of his best and will now be heading for a spell and bring him back at the end of the Winter Carnival.

Use Your Illusion Report:

Had his first offical trial back today at Doomben and we must say he was plain. Looks like he needs more ground and has not shown the interest Tony had expected today after listening to his audio report post trial.

Smerdon Racing

Kesalul Report:

What a thrill there on Saturday he gave us all. Finishing 2nd in the race Mr Racing sponsored. He has pulled up well from the run and will be heading to the paddock now for a well deserved rest.

Brave Mead Report:

Brave Mead has accepted for the Darby Munro on Saturday at Rosehill. He has drawn barrier (5) and it looks a competitive race with our horse to follow in Robrick also going around. Good luck to our Owner Of The Day winner in this weeks draw.

Jungle Cat x Khasan Report:

He is currently in his second week of pre training and feeling great. Excited to have him back and working towards a trial and race start.

You Think You Know Report:

New edtion to the Mr Racing team is the son of So You Think, You Think You Know. He had his first trial yesterday at Musswellbrook and began and travelled well before blowing out late. Looking forward to see how he comes through the trial.

Jungle Cat x Khasahn

Mr Racing had this colt on our radar at the sales due to his half-brother (King Klaus) whom we tried to buy after his first race start. He is a fast, tough 1000m horse who has built a very handy record (29s :14 - 6 -1) and earned over $300,000 in prize money.

We loved his length, good muscle with clean knees and tracks well, he has a great head and a lovely mover.

Master Rich

Mr Racing along with trainer Jared Wehlow, purchased Master Rich at the recent Inglis Digital Online Sale for $8,000. He looks suited to North Queensland racing, especially the big Rockampton track and his run-on debut at Beaudesert was good when unsuited.
